Identifying Sources in Works Cited Lists and Bibliographies

Works cited lists are very effective ways to find relevant sources for your research. In order to be able to make use of the information in works cited lists, you must be able to identify the kind of source it is: is it a book, a chapter in a book, a jour

Use Journal Finder to Locate Articles

1. Open the Journals tab on the Library's homepage.

2. Type the title of the periodical (NOT the article) into the search bar under Journals (see Periodical Articles in this guide):

3. Another window will open indicating if Hofstra has access to the full text, the dates for which full text is available, and how it can be accessed:

4. If full text access is available on the date of the article you are trying to locate, just click on one of the links shown. You will see a list of the years for which full text is available. Find your article by looking under the appropriate year.
