Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery

Interlibrary Loan information, policies, FAQs

Request a book

Hofstra students and faculty can use the online catalog (Lexicat) to request books. For students, books will be pulled from the stacks and held at the Axinn Library Circulation Desk. For faculty, books will be delivered to your on-campus office address.

Faculty may also use the Faculty Book Delivery Request Form.

Books will usually be pulled and/or delivered by the next business day. Occasionally the service may take 2 business days.

Using Lexicat to Request Book Delivery

Faculty and students can make requests using the Lexicat online library catalog.

You will need to login to your library account before doing this.  It is a good rule of thumb to always log in to your library account before searching the catalog. Log in by entering your name and Hofstra 70* number.

When you are logged in to your library account, you will see a number of options in the bibliographic records for your search results. You will click the "Request" check-mark button.

After you click the Request button, you will be taken to a Request Verification screen, where you can enter any special instructions (for example, Faculty may indicate where they would like the item to be delivered). Click "Submit."

Finally, you will submit your request by clicking "Request Selected Item."

Books will usually be pulled and/or delivered by the next business day. Occasionally the service may take 2 business days.
