Transformative "Read and Publish" Agreements: Home
This guide outlines publisher agreements with the Hofstra University Library that allow Hofstra researchers to publish open access at no cost to them.
Transformative Agreements
Hofstra University corresponding authors of accepted scholarly articles to journals from the following publishers can publish Open Access without paying an article processing charge (APC):
ACM Open (Association of Computing Machinery)
- Includes all ACM journals, conference proceedings and magazines.
- Includes all five Company of Biologists journals. Author instructions are available here.
- Includes Gold open access as well as hybrid journals. To confirm a Cambridge journal is included, use the Eligibility Checker tool.

Includes 500+ Oxford University Press journals. Complete information including a link to all eligible journals is available at the Oxford University Press link above.
- Includes hybrid journals from the Springer, Adis, Palgrave, and Nature Academic. Does not include Nature-branded titles (journal titles that begin with Nature). To confirm a journal is included, see the list of eligible journals in the link above.
Submit your research article as instructed for the selected journal, making sure to use your Hofstra email and designate yourself as the corresponding author with your Hofstra University affiliation. Upon manuscript acceptance, choose the Open Access publishing option and the system will automatically recognize you as Hofstra affiliated and waive the APC fee.
