Mozilla discontinued the extension framework that Zotero for Firefox was based on. It's no longer possible to create a tool like Zotero for Firefox within the browser.
However, you can still use Zotero with Firefox by installing the Zotero Connector. The connector is available for Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.
To use Zotero, you need to:
- Install the Zotero desktop app
- Install the Zotero Connector for your browser
- Enable the connector in the browser's Extensions pane
The Zotero Connector appears to the right of the browser's address box.
You can also use Zotero Standalone, which is a separate software download that's not tied to the Firefox browser. You can't have Zotero in Firefox and Standalone open at the same time.
