What is Evidence Based Practice?
Evidence Based Practice (EBP) is a defined process used to review, analyze, and translate the latest scientific evidence. The goal is to quickly incorporate the best available research, along with clinical experience and patient preference, into clinical practice, so nurses can make informed patient-care decisions (Dang et al., 2022).
EBP is the cornerstone of clinical practice.

The CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and Medline databases all allow for the application of filters that will yield results that are based upon evidence based practice.

Five Steps of Evidence Based Practice
The Five Steps of Evidence Based Practice are as follows:
ASK: create clinical questions and form a relevant research question
ACCESS: find and acquire the applicable resources
APPRAISE: evaluate resources for validity
APPLY: use this evidence in combination with clinical knowledge to make decisions about patient care
ASSESS: evaluate and review patient's outcome
