This guide details some of the technology available to patrons at Hofstra University's Joan & Donald E. Axinn Library

Wireless Network Access

Wi-Fi is available in every building and many outdoor spaces on campus. Please be sure to check out Hofstra's acceptable use guidelines before using the universities Wi-Fi services.

EDUROAM WIRELESS NETWORK

Students, faculty and employees should connect their laptops, tablets and smart phones to 'eduroam'.

This secure wireless network is connected to a roaming access service shared by many educational and research organizations around the world. Once your device is logged in, you can connect securely at participating institutions worldwide without having to reenter your credentials – just like a Wi-Fi Hotspot. All current students, faculty and employees can login to this network, as well as visitors from other eduroam institutions.

What institutions use eduroam in our area?

Adelphi, Columbia, Stony Brook, and N.Y.U. are among the growing list of over 400 institutions in this Wi-Fi roaming network. Visit https://www.eduroam.us/institutions_list for a full list.

Devices that cannot be connected to 'eduroam', such as gaming and media streaming devices, should be connected to 'Hofstra Guest'"

HOFSTRA GUEST WIRELESS NETWORK

Hofstra Guest is a wireless network at Hofstra University that can be used by

  • Alumni and guests who want to connect to the wireless network.
  • Employees and students who want to connect wireless devices that don't support eduroam such as video game consoles and multimedia players. Employees and students should connect computers, smartphones, and tablets to the eduroam wireless network.whenever possible.
