This guide details some of the technology available to patrons at Hofstra University's Joan & Donald E. Axinn Library

Main Floor Guest / Alumni Computer

GUEST / ALUMNI COMPUTER

  • Location:
    • A single Windows workstation is available on the North side of the Reference Desk and is marked accordingly.
       
  • How to Access
    • limited to Alumni / Guests for Research Use Only during Reference Desk Hours. 
    • Speak with a Reference Desk Librarian to obtain access.  The Librarian will log you into the computer.  
       
  • Alumni / Guests are limited to a single 1-hour session per day per user,
    • The time limit is strictly enforced, and the user should expect to exit the computer immediately at the end of the 1 hour timed session. 
       
  • Applications include: Native Windows 10 applications, Firefox/Edge/Chrome browsers, Adobe Reader, VLC
     
  • Library database availability is determined by license terms. 
     
  • No printing, but files can be saved electronically to cloud / removable storage. 
     
  • Data and history is cleared when the computer is restarted.
