Ground Floor (close to Room 021 & the Periodicals Desk)

Who Can Access?

Any Axinn Library Patron  can access this public scanner.  There is no usage fee.  Please limit use if others are waiting. 

Key Features:

  • Large friendly touchscreen buttons guide the user through the scan process from choosing file formats, to scan quality, color depth, file naming, and destinations
  • Automatically crops, straightens and orients each page.  
  • Manual image adjustments available as well.
  • Converts scanned images to PDF, Searchable PDF, Word, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and MP3 file formats
  • Sends scanned files to USB Drive, Email, Mobile Devices, Google Drive, and Dropbox.
  • Perfect Book software straightens text, thumb removal
  • Captures full pages of text without distortion
  • Pages up to 11x17” can lie flat on glass to protect book spine
  • Powered by ABBYY FineReader Technology for unmatched OCR
  • No session information stored for patron privacy
  • Ability to password protect a document.

Copying & Scanning is also available from the Library's Ground Floor Public Ricoh Copy Machine.

Who Can Access?

Current Hofstra Students.

Hofstra Faculty are encouraged to scan materials and print/copy at their office/department locations (if necessary). 

Fees: 

There is no fee for scanning and sending PDFs or image files to an email address or saving to removable storage (USB flash drive).  Students are charged for copying against their PridePrint account balance.
