SOM ORCID: ORCID for Students

ORCID for Students

ORCID isn't just for faculty and researchers - it's also a great way for students to start keeping track of their scholarly work that will follow them throughout their careers. ORCID supports a variety of publication types, including posters, presentations, theses, and dissertations.

Once you have an ORCID remember to use it! Add your ID to email signatures, online profiles, manuscript submissions, peer reviews, grant applications etc. to make the most of your ORCID profile. Doing so helps ensure your contributions to the scholarly discourse will be uniquely and correctly attributed to you regardless of what database or search engine is used to find them.

ProQuest

ProQuest now supports the addition of your ORCID when submitting your electronic thesis or dissertation. During the submission process you will be prompted to include your ORCID or sign up for one.

  • If you already have an ORCID and remember your ID, enter it in the field provided
  • If you already have an ORCID and don't remember it, enter your full name and click the "look up" button to get a list of possible matches. Once you locate your ID copy it into the field provided.
  • If you do not have an ORCID, follow the instructions to create one. Once you're finished, please go here and link your ORCID to Zucker SOM.

Staying Connected

When you sign up or connect your ORCID via the link on the "Register for ORCID" tab you are making the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell a delegate so we can help maintain your profile and cut down on additional work for you. For more info on delegates see the Privacy & Adding Delegates tab.

Your ORCID is designed to follow you throughout your career so you do not need to make a new one upon graduation. Linking your profile to the Zucker SOM also allows us to keep up with your accomplishments in school and beyond. We're proud of our alumni and always love hearing what they've been up to!

ERAS Applications

Save time and effort on your ERAS application by keeping your ORCID profile up to date! Instead of scrambling to compile all of your accomplishments at application time you can use the printable view of your profile to easily copy/paste the info into any necessary forms. Simply go to your profile and click "Public Record Print View" in the left side menu:

To re-use the info from your ORCID profile in other ways, see the "ORCID and SciENcv" tab.
