This is the web site for what is considered "the world's premier database of journal and non-journal education literature." It is sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences of the United States Department of Education and was created in 1966. ERIC has gone through a number of changes in recent years, including the creation of more full-text access to journal articles and ERIC documents. Hofstra offers a link to ERIC which may enable you to access full-text articles you would not be able to access through the ERIC government site. The National Library of Education (NLE) is, "a depository library under the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) of the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO), the Library serves as the federal government's primary education information resource to the public, education community, and other government agencies. The Library's current collection, in print and electronic formats, focuses on education and includes subject matter such as economics, law, psychology, and sociology, as they relate to education."

It provides full-text access to major educational and statistical reports released by the Department of Education. The site also offers information on funding opportunities, student financial assistance, news and events, program and services, publications and services, links to other sites, and job opportunities within the Department.
