You might want to look through the Table of Contents of some of the World War I titles listed under General Histories. A general history on a broad topic will break the topic down in more narrowly focused areas. And if the book is an edited collection (chapters are contributed by various authors) you can check out the contributors notes and reference lists to lead you to more sources.
